CPCT Exam Complete Guide
CPCT exam — complete guide
The Computer Proficiency Certification Test (CPCT) is conducted by the Government of Madhya Pradesh to assess candidates for posts that require computer knowledge and typing ability, such as Data Entry Operators and Assistant Grade-3. A single CPCT score card is used by multiple MP government departments, which is why it is so widely attempted.
Two parts of CPCT
- Objective section: multiple-choice questions on computer fundamentals, reading comprehension, reasoning and general aptitude.
- Typing skill test: separate English and Hindi typing passages, scored on net speed after errors.
How to prepare for CPCT typing
The typing section is where preparation pays off most. For Hindi, decide early whether your target uses Remington (Krutidev-style) or Inscript (Mangal), and practise that one layout exclusively to build muscle memory. For English, focus on a steady rhythm and clean accuracy, since net WPM is what counts.
Score validity and re-attempts
A CPCT score card remains valid for a defined period set by the MP government, after which you must re-take the test to keep an active score. Plan your attempt so the certificate is valid through the recruitment cycles you intend to apply for.
Refer to the official CPCT portal for the current syllabus, fees, speed criteria and validity period, as these are updated periodically.
